Manufacturer: Torrent Pharma
Pharmaceutical name: Valsartan
Pack: 1 pack (10 tabs (80 mg))
Valzaar consists of a fixed dosage of Valsartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker, utilized for managing hypertension in individuals with elevated blood pressure who are at risk for cardiovascular issues, aiding in the prevention of stroke and heart attacks.
Valzaar is indicated for the treatment of hypertension, which refers to elevated blood pressure during rest. Although it typically presents no additional symptoms, high blood pressure heightens the risk of cardiovascular disease. Valzaar effectively diminishes this risk of stroke and heart attack by reducing blood pressure to normal resting levels, thereby enabling the heart to function more efficiently, alleviating breathlessness during exertion, and potentially extending life expectancy. Additionally, Valzaar is prescribed for patients with heart failure and those who have experienced a heart attack, aiming to enhance survival and prevent further heart damage.
It is recommended to take Valzaar with a glass of water, either with or without food, once daily and at the same time each day. While Valzaar helps in controlling blood pressure, it does not offer a cure, thus it is essential to continue its use as long as advised by your healthcare provider to maintain blood pressure within normal ranges.
The most frequently observed side effects of Valzaar include: viral infections and upper respiratory infections such as sinusitis or pharyngitis, dizziness, coughing, diarrhea, abdominal pain, headache, fatigue, back pain, nausea, and fluctuations in blood salts.
You should refrain from using Valzaar if you: have an allergy to valsartan or any of its components; are allergic to sulphonamides; are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding; have liver or kidney issues; are on medications that may interact with Valzaar, such as: other antihypertensives, diuretics like furosemide, potassium-sparing diuretics such as spironolactone, potassium supplements or potassium-containing salt substitutes, corticosteroids like prednisone, cimetidine for ulcers, sulfonylurea diabetic medicines like glibenclamide, and lithium for mood disorders, or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
Several medications may interact with Valzaar and should not be taken concurrently without consulting your doctor: medications that heighten side effects include other antihypertensives, and diuretics like furosemide; medications that may impact Valzaar include non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, cimetidine for ulcers, and sulfonylurea diabetic medications like glibenclamide; medications that Valzaar may affect include potassium-sparing diuretics such as spironolactone, potassium supplements or potassium salt substitutes, and lithium for mood regulation.
It is advised to keep Valzaar in its blister packaging until it is ready for use and store it in a cool, dry place at temperatures below 30°C.
